CRO DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS STABILITY PACT OFFICIAL

ZAGREB, Nov 8 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister Vesna Cvjetkovic-Kurelec on Wednesday received Deputy Co-ordinator of the Stability Pact for South-eastern Europe, Donald Kursch, read a statement released by the Foreign Ministry. According to the statement, Kursch described the Stability Pact as a mechanism for prompting foreign business people to invest in this European region. "It has been stressed that it is necessary to implement efficiently the endorsed projects and find ways for financing medium-term projects. In this context, the interest is underlined in mobilising additional financial funds and a decision on this matter is to be made," read the statement. Kursch pointed to the importance of Croatia's co-chairmanship over the Pact's security working table in the first half of next year. In his mind, Croatia can thus contribute to the overall stabilisation of the region and make further steps in its bids to enter European and Euro-Atlantic institutions. The Croatian official and Kursch agreed that in the wake of the changes in south-eastern Europe it would be necessary to give more attention to the economic aspect of the cooperation and to the attraction of foreign investments.
