Zagrepcanka, who rallied in front of the government building on
Wednesday demanding back salaries and severance pays for 390
workers before the company files for bankruptcy, were received by
the president of the Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP).
The Zagrepcanka issue is the fault of the inefficiency of the
commercial court, which did not initiate bankruptcy despite the
fact that it was requested on Sept. 11, said HFP president Hrvoje
Vojkovic. "The workers ended in a sort of vacuum," he said.
Vojkovic assessed the situation was unsustainable and that HFP
would urge the commercial court to initiate bankruptcy proceedings
on time.
Union leader Mario Ivekovic said the passing of a rehabilitation
programme for the company was mostly obstructed by people from
competent ministries.
Vojkovic said HFP could not pay severance wages as the matter was no
longer under its competence.
The protesters continued to wait in front of the government to be
received by Assistant Economy Minister Kamilo Vrana.
