ZAGREB, Nov 7 (Hina) - Leaders of Croatian unemployed persons'
association on Tuesday held a protest rally in front of the building
of the Croatian Employment Office (HZZ) insisting on their meeting
with the HZZ head Sanja Crnkovic-Pozaic and management board.
"Today's rally is a protest against the red-tapery of the HZZ which
we would like to enforce to talk with us about our requests," the
association's head, Tomislav Djimsita, told reporters.
The association would like to cooperate with everybody that can
help its members to get a job and thus with the HZZ, Djimsita added.
The association insists on the discontinuation of a practice that
those on the dole must come in the offices of the HZZ every month to
confirm their unemployment cards, as it creates financial costs for
the jobless and makes more unnecessary job for the HZZ.
The jobless also demand that in the future the head of the HZZ should
be selected after a public bid for job vacancy rather than being
appointed. They also insist on having their representatives in the
HZZ management board.
Djimsita announced similar protest rallies to be held in front of
the HZZ building every Tuesday when some 2000 members of the
association should gather. He called on trade unions to join
protesters. He added that the association would present its
requests to some MPs.
