ZAGREB, Oct 30 (Hina) - The execution of the state budget and its
revision, which should be passed in the Croatian national
parliament in the near future, and the way and goals of passing the
projection of the state budget for the next three years were main
topics of Monday's talks between members of the International
Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission and president of the Croatian
parliament House of Representatives' committee for financing and
state budget Jadranko Mijalic.
Mijalic met representatives of the IMF mission, as a part of regular
annual consultations. The IMF mission was headed by Hans
Flickenschild, and also present were Riccardo Maggi from the fiscal
sector and permanent representative of the IMF in Croatia Gary
O'Callaghan, the parliament public relations office said in the
statement.
The IMF representatives showed particular interest in the way the
budgets would be executed, given that a good budget mostly depended
on numerous variables and movements at the capital market, the
rates of inflation and production which could be foreseen. They
also expressed interest in committee's standpoint about a draft
bill on amendments to the law on the Croatian National Bank.
Mijalic explained the House of Representatives would vote on the
projection of the state budget for the next three years, which could
be corrected by revisions of the budget for every year. Laws on the
execution of the budget would also be passed.
Mijalic also informed the IMF representatives of basic reasons for
the passing of revision. Mijalic commented on the draft bill on
amendments to the law the Croatian Central Bank (HNB), forwarded to
the government by the HNB and according to which the central bank
could no longer approve loans to the state.
