CRO PARLIAMENT SPEAKER MEETS U.S. ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF STATE

ZAGREB, Oct 25 (Hina) - Croatian national parliament speaker Zlatko Tomcic on Wednesday held talks with American assistant Secretary of State for European issues James Dobbins on the situation in the region, the parliament public relations office said in a statement. Speaking about political changes in the region, speaker Tomcic said Croatia was interested in the stabilisation in all countries, and added Milosevic's fall was giving hope for the democratisation of Serbia and its fitting in the international community. About the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Croatian parliament speaker said it was important to find solutions for the promotion of the Dayton Agreement in order to ensure the democratic development of the country and the return of refugees to Republika Srpska. Dobbins agreed Croatia's economic and democratic progress could be an example to other countries in the region, and added that financial help to Croatia was not brought to question. He expressed hope new political events in the region would help the solving of the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, as well as the satisfaction with a democratic development in Croatia. (hina) it jn
