of next month, whereas the salaries of military personnel without
ranks - soldiers, guards, privates first class and those who are not
serving in guard brigades - will be increased in line with a
decision made by the President of the Republic.
The salaries of active military personnel, commissioned and non-

Defence Minister Jozo Rados on October 16 signed a decision
increasing the basic salary of military employees from the current
843.60 kuna to 1425.27 kuna, which puts them on an equal level with
their colleagues in the civil service.
Rados' decision refers to 9,837 military employees in the Defence
Ministry and Armed Forces who will receive higher salaries in the
future.
Until the adoption of this decision, the highest salary of military
employees of the highest salary grade amounted to some 4,500 kuna,
whereas the salary in the lowest, 18th grade, amounted to 1,128
kuna. The lowest salary for employees with university
qualifications amounted to 3,389 kuna, with two-year post-
secondary school qualifications to 2,284 kuna, with secondary
school qualifications to 1,783 kuna and for lower educational
background to 1,407 kuna.
Apart from increasing the salaries of military personnel without
ranks, the President's decision, adopted on October 10, also
regulates the salaries for ranks which did not exist in the Armed
Forces until now. According to the decision, the net salary of a
brigadier general amounts to some 5,778 kuna, the net salary of a
staff brigadier to some 5,566 kuna, of a first platoon sergeant
2,960 kuna, a guard 2,054 kuna, a private first class about 2,084
kuna, and a soldier to some 2,023 kuna.
The decisions do not include the salaries of other active military
staff, whose salaries have not changed since 1995.
