ZAGREB, Oct 11 (Hina) - The Zagreb police department for the prevention of economic crimes on Wednesday charged Martin Katicic, the 63-year-old former director of Privredna banka Zagreb (PBZ), with abuse of power in business
operations. As PBZ's director, Katicic is suspected of having damaged AGM Trgovina for 470 million Croatian dinars (DM3 million at the time) in the period between 23 June and 15 July 1992. Police suspect that Katicic through spoken orders demanded that bank staff annul a valid order from the "Tvornica automobila Sarajevo" car factory that the said sum be transferred to the "AGM Trgovina" account. After the car factory order was annulled, two German citizens, whom police do not name, in agreement with Katicic signed an unauthorised order to PBZ to transfer the 470 million dinars, in German marks, to the account of German company "Volkswagen AG".
