ZAGREB, Sept 27 (Hina) - The Croatian National Parliament's House of Representatives on Wednesday ratified the Criminal Law Convention on Corruption. Global economy, among other things, produces international cartels which try to
corrupt state officials to promote the distribution of narcotics and weapons, or for laundering money. Such businesses have expanded so much that states alone cannot fight this, and this convention enables a greater international cooperation in fighting organised crime, Ingrid Antincevic-Marinovic of the Social Democratic Party said during the parliament discussion. The House also unanimously adopted the convention on international transport (COTIF), European convention on the prevention of torture and inhuman or degrading conduct or punishment, and an agreement on cooperation in the prevention and fighting transfrontier crime.
