ZAGREB COMPANIES STAGE PROTEST RALLY ZAGREB, Sept 26 (Hina) - About 200 employees with the meat-processing industry 'Zagrepcanka trgovina' and 'Dekor' company for the production of road signalling equipment staged a protest rally in
front of the Government building in Zagreb's St. Mark's Square on Tuesday. Employees with 'Zagrepcanka trgovina' are protesting because the company's management has requested the majority owner - the Croatian Privatisation Fund - to initiate bankruptcy proceedings. "We will not allow bankruptcy proceedings to be initiated without an actual bankruptcy plan and money for its implementation," the Croatian Unions' Federation's commissioner for Zagreb Mario Ivekovic told the protesters. The workers staged the rally despite reports from the HFP that they would be given their wages for July and August. ZAGREB, Sept 26 (Hina) - About 200 employees with the meat-
processing industry 'Zagrepcanka trgovina' and 'Dekor' company for
the production of road signalling equipment staged a protest rally
in front of the Government building in Zagreb's St. Mark's Square on
Tuesday.
Employees with 'Zagrepcanka trgovina' are protesting because the
company's management has requested the majority owner - the
Croatian Privatisation Fund - to initiate bankruptcy proceedings.
"We will not allow bankruptcy proceedings to be initiated without
an actual bankruptcy plan and money for its implementation," the
Croatian Unions' Federation's commissioner for Zagreb Mario
Ivekovic told the protesters.
The workers staged the rally despite reports from the HFP that they
would be given their wages for July and August.
Employees with 'Dekor', a company whose majority owner is the
state, joined the protest rally, seeking the payment of unpaid
wages and assistance funds worth 850,000 kuna, which, according to
Ivekovic, would be enough for the company to overcome the crisis and
start the production.
A workers' delegation is expected to meet government officials
today.
