ZAGREB, Sept 25 (Hina) - During the first six months of this year, 45.7 million passengers were transported and this way an increase of 2.9 percent as against the same period in 1999. This rise is ascribed to the upward trend in this
year's tourist trade. According to Croatia's Statistical Office, the biggest number of passengers (or 74 percent of the total number) was in road transport, and 19.2 percent was transported by train. Other forms of transport (maritime and air) made 6.6. percent. Only the railway transport registered a small fall of 0.7 percent in the first half of 2000 compared to the same period 1999. The biggest increase with 21 percent was registered in the air transport of passengers. As regards the freight transport, statistical data are less favourable.
