ZAGREB, Sept 19 (Hina) - At the end of August the Croatian Employment Bureau registered 349,871 persons on the dole, or by 0.8 percent more than in July. Thus, an upward trend in the unemployment resumes after three previous months
saw a short-term fall thanks to seasonal employment. The unemployment in August rose by ten percent as against the same month in 1999. People at age between 20 and 24 accounted for the biggest portion in the entire unemployment. Of those 350 thousand jobless, 19.1 percent was those young people. According to education and skills of the registered unemployed persons, most of them (34.5 percent) were skilled and highly trained workers. The smallest percent of those seeking jobs was made by person who graduated from colleges and universities.(hina) ms
