ZAGREB, Sept 18 (Hina) - Croatian Interior Minister Sime Lucin on
Monday confirmed that police ended an operation in which 12 persons
accused of war crimes in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina and of
organised and other crimes, were arrested last week.
"It is up to the State Prosecutor's Office whether there would be
other operations", Minister Lucin said after a session of the
Croatian national parliament's interior policy and national
security committee.
Zadar's Court issued arrest warrants for two suspects of crimes
committed in Bosnia's village Ahmici who are on the run, Lucin
added.
He once again denied allegations about the existence of a list of
names of 132 persons who are to be arrested, as well as about the
mutiny of members of the Interior Ministry's special unit who are
dissatisfied with the arrests.
"There is nothing to be said. All this is a part of the same story",
Minister Lucin told reporters, adding such information were being
published again, regardless of the fact the police had already
denied them.
President of the committee Djurdja Adlesic said Minister Lucin told
the session that everything during the operation was in line with
the law, and that all suspects would undergo a court process.
She stressed that all those participating in the creation of public
opinion must take their share of responsibility "considering all
the clumsiness which occurred in the process of informing on the
operation".
