HRT REPORTS UNOFFICIALLY: POLICE ARREST SUSPECTS IN LEVAR MURDER

ZAGREB, Sept 12 (Hina) - Croatian Television (HRT) on Tuesday evening broadcast the as yet unofficial information that police arrested Croatian Army General Tihomir Oreskovic and another dozen persons suspected of involvement in last month's murder of Hague war crimes tribunal witness Milan Levar.
ZAGREB, Sept 12 (Hina) - Croatian Television (HRT) on Tuesday evening broadcast the as yet unofficial information that police arrested Croatian Army General Tihomir Oreskovic and another dozen persons suspected of involvement in last month's murder of Hague war crimes tribunal witness Milan Levar.#L# The victim had mentioned Oreskovic's name in testimonies on crimes the Croatian side had committed against Croatian Serb civilians in Gospic at the beginning of the Homeland War earlier last decade. Levar was killed in a car-bomb explosion in his yard in Gospic, central Croatia, on August 28. Nobody at the Ministry of Defence wanted to comment on this morning's unofficial information on an extensive police action in Gospic in connection with the Levar assassination. Prime Minister Ivica Racan said he had no information on the matter. Immediately after the Levar assassination, the Interior Ministry sent to Gospic two teams from the capital to investigate the case. Interior Minister Sime Lucin told the government's first session after the assassination the Interior Ministry would do everything to apprehend the perpetrators as soon as possible. According to information from the Interior Ministry, police have conducted more than 300 interviews in connection with the matter.
