ZAGREB, Sept 8 (Hina) - The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly's Monitoring Committee adopted in Paris on Friday a draft resolution and recommendations urging cancelling monitoring over Croatia, Croatia's Foreign Ministry said
in a statement. The recommendations, praising Croatia for the progress made in complying with undertaken obligations, will be forwarded to the Parliamentary Assembly for debate. The recommendations say the obligations were complied with almost to the full or are being complied with, which according to the Foreign Ministry statement means the monitoring procedure may be considered completed. The draft resolution and recommendations urge the international community, Council of Europe member-states in particular, to immediately start providing financial assistance to Croatia for the reconstruction and development of areas to which refugees and displaced persons

The recommendations, praising Croatia for the progress made in
complying with undertaken obligations, will be forwarded to the
Parliamentary Assembly for debate.
The recommendations say the obligations were complied with almost
to the full or are being complied with, which according to the
Foreign Ministry statement means the monitoring procedure may be
considered completed.
The draft resolution and recommendations urge the international
community, Council of Europe member-states in particular, to
immediately start providing financial assistance to Croatia for
the reconstruction and development of areas to which refugees and
displaced persons are returning.
Attending today's Monitoring Committee meeting was Mirjana Feric-
Vac, who headed a Croatian parliamentary delegation, and
delegation member Niko Bulic.
Before adopting the draft resolution and recommendations, the
Monitoring Committee considered a draft report on how Croatia was
complying with obligations undertaken upon joining the Council of
Europe in 1996.
The monitoring is expected to formally end on September 26,
following debate and voting at the Parliamentary Assembly's
September 25-29 plenary session in Strasbourg.
Croatia's President Stipe Mesic will address the session on
September 28.
