DUBROVNIK, Sept 3 (Hina) - Croatia's First Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic on Sunday visited the Dubrovnik coastal area in southern-most Croatia, which suffered the heaviest damage in recent wildfires. After touring the burnt
areas, Granic promised the local population government assistance in recovering from the damage. Speaking about the wildfires, he said it had transpired once again that many omissions had been made in fire-prevention. This calls for a re-examination of the fire-fighting system and a different organisation of professional units, which must act faster, he added. The first deputy prime minister visited the Arboretum park, which was also damaged in a wildfire. He said the park was a nature reserve of outstanding value which must be restored to its original form.(hina) ha
