ZAGREB, Aug 21 (Hina) - Croatia's Economy Minister Goranko Fizulic
on Monday held a meeting with representatives of the Split-based
company "Diokom", the current trustee in bankruptcy, Jozo Malenica
and representatives of three unions active in this firm, the
Ministry reported this afternoon.
In line with the August 14 meeting which Fizulic held with Diokom
representatives in Split, a list was compiled of stocks which
should be offered on sale in all 39 Diokom shops as of 26 August
(Saturday).
They also concluded that semi-manufactured products, the value of
which is now about 2.5 million kuna (about 0.3 million US dollars),
should be finished.
They also agreed that a court expert be asked to assess the value of
the real estate of this company. The duty of the expert will be to
estimate, by 1 September, the value of the premises that are not
used for the manufacturing, and subsequently a public invitation
for bids for the purchase should be announced in the media.
Minister Fizulic and Diokom representatives said their following
meeting should take place in Split in 10 days.
On August 14 Croatian Economy Minister Goranko Fizulic visited the
Diokom company and offered new hope to its workers and unions,
defusing the tense situation in the company by pledging that none of
Diokom's 2,370 employees would be left without jobs, or an adequate
dismissal wage.
In the further process of the bankruptcy procedure it is necessary
to sell off all reserves in Diokom's retail network under lower
prices and divide Diokom into several technological entities,
Fizulic said on that occasion.
Every such part would receive its own trustee in bankruptcy who
would function independently.
A part of the real-estate could possibly be sold to secure
sufficient resources for dismissal wages.
During that visit Fizulic, and Diokom representatives agreed that
their meetings should be held regularly on a weekly basis until the
issue of Diokom and its workers is resolved.
Bankruptcy was pronounced in Diokom two month ago when the then
bankruptcy trustee Ante Ercegovic first handed out resignations to
all employees, and then withdrew them.
The current trustee, Jozo Malenica, refused to withdraw the
resignations and insisted on their legal validity, but the
resistance of the employees disrupted the plan.
