COMPANIES CONTINUE TO SETTLE DEBTS IN JUNE

ZAGREB, Aug 17 (Hina) - By the end of June debts of companies registered at the Payment Transactions Bureau (ZAP) amounted to 22.75 billion kuna (US$2.7 billion), which is by 831.2 million kuna (US$99 million) or 3.5 per cent less than at the end of the previous month. Following a short intermission in April, the amount of debts has continued to decrease at the ZAP. The amount of payment orders during the first six months of this year has decreased by 3.8 billion kuna (US$119 million). The primary cause are initiated bankruptcy proceedings during the past several months for companies with great amounts of account blockages, the ZAP said. At the end of June the number of insolvent companies was 31,859, 660 or two per cent less than the month before.
