CROATIAN EMPLOYERS CHANGE FORM OF RELATIONSHIP WITH GOVERNMENT

ZAGREB, July 18 (Hina) - Croatian Employers' Association (HUP) will in the future have a selective approach to the Government and its work. The approach will depend on the efficiency of the Government, the work of ministries and a level of cooperation with political parties whose members are senior government officials or MPs, said the HUP head Zejlko Ivancevic on Tuesday. The HUP and the entire economy in the country want and expect to see a stable and efficient Government. So far, this association has mostly given unreserved support to the Government, Ivancevic told a news conference. At last week's session, it, however, decided to opt for the selective approach. "Since 12 July we have established a new regime in the relations," he told reporters, adding that the HUP would be a constructive group pointing to the Government's problems and mistakes. At the beginning of this month, the HUP forwarded letters to six parties that constitute the coalition Government, calling on them to discuss economic problems and possible settlements. To date, the HUP concluded talks with the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS) and they reached a high level of agreement in the assessment of the current state of affairs and talks on some forms of cooperation. The HUP has started the talks with the Istrian Democratic Alliance (IDS). Unfortunately, other four parties - SDP (Social Democratic party), HSLS (Croatian Social Liberal party), HNS (Croatian People's Party) and LS (Liberal Party) - have not yet responded to the invitation of the HUP, Ivancevic said.
