MOSTAR, July 13 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) has said it "is aware of mistakes it made in the past and asks for understanding and forgiveness for all failures it made within legal and
legitimate bids of the Croat people in its own self-defence," read a programme declaration of this political party, which was adopted by the HDZ BiH Presidency on Wednesday and will be considered by the party's 6th convention, scheduled for 15 July in Sarajevo. The HDZ BiH regrets at experiencing "imposed war conflicts in these areas, expresses sorrow for all victims, and it particularly apologises to the families of victims that were caused by transgression of ethics of the war and violations of international humanitarian norms and the law of war committed by individuals from the Croat people," read the document. This is the first time for the HDZ BiH to apologise publicly
MOSTAR, July 13 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-
Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) has said it "is aware of mistakes it made in
the past and asks for understanding and forgiveness for all
failures it made within legal and legitimate bids of the Croat
people in its own self-defence," read a programme declaration of
this political party, which was adopted by the HDZ BiH Presidency on
Wednesday and will be considered by the party's 6th convention,
scheduled for 15 July in Sarajevo.
The HDZ BiH regrets at experiencing "imposed war conflicts in these
areas, expresses sorrow for all victims, and it particularly
apologises to the families of victims that were caused by
transgression of ethics of the war and violations of international
humanitarian norms and the law of war committed by individuals from
the Croat people," read the document.
This is the first time for the HDZ BiH to apologise publicly for war
crimes individual Croats in Bosnia committed.
According to the declaration, this political party opposes any kind
of extremism and radicalism.
It also distances itself from all who have contributed, by their
rhetoric and acts, to a negative image of the HDZ BiH, and from all
who, instead of making adequate response to the challenges of time,
responded by methods of "radical primitivism and obstruction."
The party also advocates constitutional changes that will lead to a
clearer definition of the role and position of Bosnia-
Herzegovina's Parliament and Ministerial Council.
It proposes the establishment of a central commission for interior
affairs adding that a united Interior Ministry will mean a great
step forward.
It also suggests the set-up of joint armed forces in Bosnia-
Herzegovina with three recognisable national elements.
