U.S. CONGRESS DELEGATION TO ARRIVE IN ZAGREB TODAY

ZAGREB, July 6 (Hina) - A United States Congress delegation arrives in Zagreb on Thursday for a two-day visit, the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb said in a statement. The delegation will hold talks with senior Croatian officials to learn about the situation in the region. The delegation comprises republican senator George Voinovich from Ohio, and House of Representatives deputies Matt Salmon, a republican from Arizona, and democrats Louise Slaughter from New York, Benjamin Cardin and Steny Hoyer from Maryland, Bob Clement from Tennessee, and Robert Cramer from Alabama. The delegation will tackle political and security issues. Croatia's senior officials are expected to brief them on the latest developments in Croatia, including ongoing economic reforms. On Friday, the delegation should hold talks with Croatia's President Stipe Mesic and Prime Minister Ivica Racan, and parliament representatives Vesna Pusic of the Croatian People's Party, Zdenko Franic of the Social Democratic Party, Darinko Orel of the Croatian Social Liberal Party, Mate Granic of the Democratic Centre, and Petar Turcinovic of the Istrian Democratic Assembly.
