RACAN: GOVT WILL APPOINT HINA'S ACTING EDITOR-IN-CHIEF ON THURSDAY

ZAGREB, July 10 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivica Racan on Monday announced that the government would appoint the acting editor-in-chief of the Croatian news agency Hina on Thursday and that parliament would probably appoint Hina's acting director at its extraordinary session this month. "The Government will on Thursday appoint the acting editor-in-chief," Racan said after a meeting with the presidents of other parties making up the ruling coalition. He would not reveal the identity of Hina's acting editor-in-chief since consultations on the matter were underway. Racan said Hina's acting editor-in-chief and director would be appointed for a period of a couple of months, after which a new law, adjusting Hina to new conditions, would be adopted. After this, applications for the two posts will be invited. According to the Law on Hina of 1990, the agency's editor-in-chief is appointed by the government
