Instead of using budgetary funds via more than 9,000 accounts, transactions will be effected via one account of the state treasury, thus helping save up to five percent of the total budget. The incumbent government is paying a 9.6 billion kuna (US$1.2 billion) debt from the last decade which had got out of hand, said the finance minister. State Treasury, planned for July next year, Croatia will establish
the best mechanism for controlling the spending of state money,
Croatia's Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac said on Wednesday.
Crkvenac held a news conference on the Brijuni Isles at the end of a
three-day international conference which focused on the role of
state treasuries in countries in transition.
Instead of using budgetary funds via more than 9,000 accounts,
transactions will be effected via one account of the state
treasury, thus helping save up to five percent of the total budget.
The incumbent government is paying a 9.6 billion kuna (US$1.2
billion) debt from the last decade which had got out of hand, said
the finance minister.
The minister announced the government would work throughout the
summer preparing a draft budget for the next three years. In doing
so, the government will pay close attention to priority tasks, like
a complete regulation of conditions for economic operations,
strengthening Croatia's political and economic position as a
region favourable for entrepreneurship, increasing production,
inciting export, and increasing employment.
