ZAGREB, July 7 (Hina) - Representatives of the Croatian Government and the Croatian Health Insurance Institute (HZZO) on Friday signed a contract with government guarantees with eight Croatian banks on the registration of HZZO bonds
worth 222 million euros, enabling the banks to participate in the settling of HZZO debts. The banks will pay the funds by July 17, which means that all HZZO obligations with the maturity date of March 30 2000 could be settled by July 20, HZZO director Zdravko Loncarec said. the banks to participate in the settling of HZZO debts.

The bankers believe the bonds will attract great interest on the
stock market as well as that foreign investors will appear in autumn
and that the bonds will put the capital market into operation
again.
Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac said the signing of the contract was
a contribution to the financial recovery of the health system. He
announced similar measures for other areas such as railway,
shipbuilding industry etc.
