After talks with Croatian Prime Minister Racan Dzurinda told reporters Slovakia was interested in cooperation on several concrete projects regarding tourism and transportation. According to Racan, they tackled the strengthening of economic cooperation, in summer and winter tourism, and the promotion of Slovak investments in this branch of economy. cooperation with Croatia particularly in investments in the
Croatian tourism and the participation in the building of the
Budapest-Rijeka highway, Slovakian Prime Minister Mikulas
Dzurinda said in Zagreb Friday.
Dzurinda arrived in an official visit to Zagreb Friday.
After talks with Croatian Prime Minister Racan Dzurinda told
reporters Slovakia was interested in cooperation on several
concrete projects regarding tourism and transportation.
According to Racan, they tackled the strengthening of economic
cooperation, in summer and winter tourism, and the promotion of
Slovak investments in this branch of economy.
This is namely possibilities of investments of Slovak companies in
tourist capacities at the Adriatic or their privatisation and
cooperation between Slovak and Croatian travel agencies.
Dzurinda invited Racan to spend his winter vacation in Slovakia,
while he would spend his summer vacation in Croatia. He said this
could be the foundations for a closer economic cooperation between
the two countries.
Slovakia is also interested in being included in the Rijeka-
Budapest highway, which should be finished within two years.
The Slovakian Prime Minister also mentioned a possibility in line
with which Slovak companies would receive long term concessions for
the use of the Rijeka port, adding however, Slovak investors are
still to be found.
The two parties also discussed a joint procedure in the prevention
of international crimes and cooperation in the updating of the
Slovak and Croatian armies.
Croatian and Slovakian experts are to meet in Bratislava in July to
prepare a free trade agreement, Dzurinda said.
The two parties also agreed on the organisation of meetings of
experts regarding the exchange of experience on Croatia's and
Slovakia's joining Euro-Atlantic structures.
Premier Dzurinda said Slovakia would support Croatia's attempts to
joint the European Union.
The two officials also discussed the position of the Slovak
minority in Croatia and the Croatian minority in Slovakia.
The Slovak Primer is also to be received by Croatian President Stipe
Mesic and vice president of the Croatian National Sabor Vlatko
Pavletic.
