In an open message to Croats living abroad, the new leadership
estimates that the Croatian Homeland Foundation was in the past
seven years firmly linked with the policy of the party which was in
power, which restricted its activities.
The homeland's debt to the emigrants cannot be paid only with
folklore activities, the spreading of the Croatian language or by
organising collective visits to the homeland, the message read.
The Foundation, the new leadership believes, should have become a
long time ago a modern institution like the ones of other nations
which have large emigrant communities and wish to widen their
cultural influence.
The readiness and potential of individuals to work toward common
goals rather than political orientation will be of crucial
importance from now on, the message read.
"The Foundation should become a real bridge toward all Croat
emigrants, all (Croat) communities and societies in the world."
