ZAGREB, June 26 (Hina) - A task force Croatian President Stipe Mesic entrusted with drafting a strategy for the development of agriculture and areas of special government concern on Monday presented the strategy, whose priority are
investments in primary agriculture. The strategy refers to a period of seven years necessary to adapt and adjust to standards of the World Trade Organisation, namely systems in Europe's developed countries. The strategy's objective is to produce as much food as possible for domestic requirements, decrease by 20 percent prices for agricultural products, and by 30 percent for import. The strategy includes a series of economic measures of which the most important is credit financing, aimed at stimulating the development of agriculture. entrusted with drafting a strategy for the development of
agriculture and areas of special government concern on Monday
presented the strategy, whose priority are investments in primary
agriculture.
The strategy refers to a period of seven years necessary to adapt
and adjust to standards of the World Trade Organisation, namely
systems in Europe's developed countries.

Task force president Antun Debrecin told reporters today 1.7
billion kuna (US$212.5 million) would be earmarked from the state
budget for agriculture if the strategy was adopted.
In drafting the strategy, the President's task force took into
account regulations and conditions set by WTO and the European
Union.
