said on Friday there were no more preparations for Croatia's access
to the World Trade Organisation.
WTO is something which is before us, the minister said while
visiting Karlovac's meat-processing factory.
What we have been notified about and taken part in is the fact that
all technical preparations for Croatia's admission have been
agreed on and carried out, and that we can expect the official
access by mid-next year at the latest, Crkvenac said.
The minister added the government had no need at yesterday's
session for "bombastic briefing" on the subject, because it was
agreed on technically.
WTO means that strong competition will be imposed on Croatia's
economy, Crkvenac said, adding it was a gradual process, certainly
not a shock for the entire economy, especially the agriculture, as
some forecast.
By entering the world market, Croatia will have wide open doors for
placing its product. The finance minister also announced relief in
that respect.
