As the head of a Croatian parliamentary delegation, Adlesic is in a one-week visit to Washington, D.C.. States is to be introduced to the American experience in
parliamentary surveillance of all security services -- police,
army, intelligence service -- president of the Croatian National
Sabor's Interior Policy Committee Djurdja Adlesic of the Croatian
Social Liberal Party (HSLS) said Wednesday.
As the head of a Croatian parliamentary delegation, Adlesic is in a
one-week visit to Washington, D.C.. Croatian President's advisor
for interior policy Igor Dekanic is also visiting the United
States.
The Croatian delegation already held talks with the Attorney
General, the Secretary of Treasury, and officials of the State
Department and the United States Congress. They are also scheduled
to hold talks with officials in the Pentagon, the National Security
Council, as well as state agencies and security services.
During the visit, they will be informed of the role of non-
governmental organisations in the United States security policy.
The delegation said that talks held so far were open and added they
noticed the interest of United States officials in the situation in
Croatia.
We had an opportunity to see that our new law on interior affairs is
maybe even better that the American, because it is very precise in
regulating who, when and how can decide on tapping or surveillance
of persons during a police procedure, Adlesic stressed.
The Croatian delegation is visiting the United States at the
invitation of the United States government as a part of the
international visits programme organised by the State Department.
