ZAGREB FLIGHT CONTROL DID NOT JEOPARDISE FLIGHT ABOVE BOSNIA ZAGREB, June 6 (Hina) - The Zagreb Area Flight Control did not jeopardise the safety of an Austrian plane flying above Bosnia-Herzegovina because it is not authorised for
flight control below specific latitude in the neighbouring country, the Croatian Flight Control (HKZP) in Zagreb said in a statement on Tuesday. "The Zagreb Flight Control is authorised for flight control only in one part of air space in western Bosnia-Herzegovina, from the latitude of 29,000 feet to 39,000 feet," whereas the above-mentioned incident "occurred below the latitude of 29,000 feet, which is a sector controlled by Stabilisation Force (SFOR) and NATO professional bodies, whose flight control officials perform their duties from a unit within the Zagreb Area Flight Control," said the statement signed by HKZP acting director Drazen Ramljak. statement signed by HKZP acting director Drazen Ramljak.
The head of the Civil Aviation Directorate of Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Zijad Sisic, accused the Zagreb Flight Control of jeopardising the
safety of an "Austrian Airlines" plane on a regular Vienna-Sarajevo
line in May this year.
The Sarajevo-based daily 'Dnevni avaz' on Sunday quoted Sisic as
saying that the failure of the Zagreb Flight Control of May 5 almost
caused a crash between four military planes and the Austrian
passenger plane.
