PULA, June 2 (Hina) - European Commission president and Italy's former prime minister Romano Prodi is informally visiting Croatia's largest peninsula, Istria, with wife and friends. Prodi arrived in Istria's seaside resort Porec,
where his wife awaited him, by bike from Koper, Slovenia. He continued his visit to the northern Adriatic peninsula by stopping in Rovinj and Pula. Prodi's host in Istria is Croatia's Minister for European Integration Ivan Jakovcic, who on Friday accompanied him on a tour of Porec's basilica and talks with Msgr Ivan Milovan, the bishop of the Porec-Pula diocese. Prodi advocated the preservation of Istria's rich cultural and historical heritage and the revival of the peninsula's old towns.
