EXCISE TAX ON OIL PRODUCTS MAY INCREASE TRANSPORT PRICES

ZAGREB, May 22 (Hina) - The Government's motion on the increase of excise tax, which will increase the prices of oil products, could, according to assessments of some transport companies, lead to a rise in prices of passenger transport by about ten to fifteen per cent, and the transport of goods by around ten per cent. The Government's motion for the increase of special tax for oil products would mean an increase in the prices of petrol by 29 per cent and diesel fuel by 13.7 per cent. According to estimates by the Association of Croatian Road Transporters, the influence of the transport price rise to retail prices of some products should be by far less considering the fact that in the total product price transport amounts between one to three per cent. However, the prices of personal transport, such as when manufacturer or service companies have their own organised transport of goods, could increase by 30 per cent. Such transport companies within a company could become a possible generator of increased prices of certain products, because the price of their transport is greater than with professional transporters, a representative of the Association said.
