ZAGREB, May 2 (Hina) - The Government's suggestion on the increase
of excise tax for oil products, which draws along an increase in the
price of petrol by 29 per cent and diesel petrol by 13.7 per cent,
will fully go to the state.
The Croatian oil company INA gains nothing from this, this will only
increase the amount from which the state will gather proceedings
from the increase in prices, INA reacted Monday.
INA information and public relations service manager Mario
Dragutin told Hina the proceedings yielded from the increase in
prices will go to the state.
He recalled that INA's business was being burdened by the
inappropriate price of oil products, that is, the Government's
refusal to grant corrections of prices in line with the increase in
price of crude oil on the global market and the dollar exchange
rate.
The current retail prices of oil products have been formed on the
price of crude oil of 22 dollars per barrel, and the rate of 8 kuna
per dollar, while the price of crude oil is on the increase and
reaching about 30 dollars per barrel, while the exchange rate of the
dollar is 8.7 kuna.
INA's calculations also show that due to inappropriate pricing they
had lost about 600 million kuna (about US$69 million), and in the
first three months of the year about 240 million kuna (US$27.59
million) of profit had been lost.
The Government's motion to increase excise tax on oil products,
tobacco, alcohol, beer and coffee and changes in the system of
excise taxes for cars were forwarded into urgent parliamentary
procedure last Friday. MPs should decide on the motion this or next
week.
