Parliament's president also rejected assessments by the Opposition and many Homeland War veterans' associations that the new authorities was neglecting the dignity of last decade's war. He voiced concern over attempts to create political chaos. Tomcic sees two manifestations "in tendencies to create chaos." Once again, he said, "some new neo-fascist forces are awakening, and there is also the so called anarchist trade unionism." Speaking about the new Government's steps, Tomcic said the Government's activity was "determined by the situation it has encountered, and it is considerably more tragic than we expected." Tomcic announced Parliament would soon debate "the first projection of a privatisation law," and that the "semi- presidential system will be transformed into a parliamentary one." Tomcic spoke to the press in Zagreb following a meeting of the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS) Head Committee, which turned down his resignation to the office of HSS president. Tomcic considered himself partially responsible for the failure his party experienced at last weekend's elections for the Zagreb City Assembly, and offered to resign. (hina) ha
