ZAGREB, May 11 (Hina) - Branko Lovric, director of 'Vecernji list'
daily, said on Thursday he had not received the ruling of the
Commercial Court in Zagreb on a temporary ban on the use of
'Vecernji list' shares and could therefore not comment on it.
"Vecernji list needs a strategic partner in order to overcome its
financial problems, continue developing and be able to compete on
the market," Lovric told Hina today.
The Austrian publishing house Styria has recently successfully
completed negotiations on the take-over of 'Vecernji list' and
signed all contracts, the president of the Styria management board
Horst Pirker said in today's issue of 'Slobodna Dalmacija' daily.
Pirker also said the take-over had not been completed yet because
the Croatian partner still had to complete the legal procedure.
Asked whether Styria would give up the deal should it be proved that
the law had been violated in the privatisation of 'Vecernji list'
and its business operations conducted so far, Pirker said Styria
did not intend to give up its investment into 'Vecernji list'.
Pirker said he was familiar with all events regarding the sale of
'Vecernji list' shares to the Caritas Fund from the Virgin Islands,
however, Styria's participation in the ownership of 'Vecernji
list' had little to do with that.
