ZAGREB/GENEVA, April 18 (Hina) - The U.N. Commission for Human Rights on Tuesday welcomed Croatia's democratic election and its new reformist government, suggesting that next year Croatia no longer be discussed within the context of human rights violations if the positive progress continues. A resolution on human rights in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Croatia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina, adopted in Geneva today, welcomes the initial steps the new Croatian government has made with the aim of securing the independence of the media and justice and enabling refugee return. The resolution also welcomes the Government's determination and substantive initial steps it has taken. The document was adopted with 44 votes for, one against (Russia), and eight abstentions.
