ZAGREB, April 18 (Hina) - Croatian Economy Minister Goran Fizulic
on Tuesday held consultations with ambassadors of European Union
(EU) countries accredited in Croatia.
According to a statement from the Croatian Economy Ministry, the
consultations tackled Croatia's access to the World Trade
Organisation (WTO), which is hampered by the as yet unresolved
dispute of opinion the European Commission (EC) and the United
States (US) have as regards audio-visual services.
Present at the talks was also Per Vinther, the head of an EC
delegation in Croatia.
Minister Fizulic appealed to the ambassadors and Vinther to inform
their governments and the EC of the importance the Croatian
government ascribed to the finding of a solution to the issue,
namely its importance for the entire process of economic reforms
the government was implementing, and especially for Croatia's
integration with European institutions.
Fizulic expects all parties interested in the matter, the EU and the
US in particular, will do everything to settle the audio-visual
services issue as soon as possible, thus finally enabling Croatia
to become a WTO member.
