ZAGREB, April 17 (Hina) - Croatian President Stipe Mesic on Monday received officials of eastern Croatia's Vukovar-Srijem County, who informed him about the critical situation in local economy and regional banks, which they said had
resulted in a high unemployment rate and a difficult social situation. President Mesic told County Assembly president Ljerka Javor and prefect Rudolf Koenig he was aware of the facts, saying he would incite and support efforts by the ministries and the Croatian National Bank to draft an integral policy of coming out of the economic depression. According to a statement from the President's Office, the new policy should contain a clear regional aspect. Also present at the talks were the President's advisers on internal policy and the economy, and assistant adviser on internal policy, Igor Dekanic, Stjepan Zdunic, and Neven Ivak respectively.(hina) ha
