ZAGREB, April 12 (Hina) - The Croatian Government will on Thursday
consider a draft declaration on cooperation with the International
Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY). Once it is
confirmed by the Government, the draft should be forwarded to the
Croatian National Sabor for consideration.
The adoption of the declaration on cooperation with The Hague-based
Tribunal was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic at
Wednesday session of the House of Representatives and yesterday's
session of the House of Counties.
In order to protect the dignity of the Homeland War and the future of
the Croatian people and state, we must take an unambiguous stand
toward crimes, and this cannot be traded, Granic said, answering
questions during question time at yesterday's session of the House
of Counties.
The Government, which has 18 items on its agenda for tomorrow's
session, also faces a debate on a proposal for settling debts with
budgetary users, encountered on December 31 last year. Those debts
are estimated at nine billion kuna (US$1.125 billion). Part of
those debts, amounting to some 3.6 billion kuna, would be covered
from this year's budget and the government has also announced a set
of other instruments for settling debts.
The Government will also discuss draft measures for preparing this
year's tourist season. Tourism Minister Pave Zupan Ruskovic today
said the Government should voice its opinion on short-term
intervention measures which are aimed at helping Croatian hotel
companies, which are faced with major financial problems, prepare
for this year's season.
The Government could tomorrow also confirm a bill on equal official
use of minority languages and scripts in Croatia.
