OSCE MISSION ON PRELIMINARY ELECTION RESULTS FOR 61 MUNICIPALITIES

SARAJEVO, April 11 (Hina) - The Organisation for Security and Co- operation in Europe (OSCE) Mission to Bosnia-Herzegovina (BH) on Tuesday disclosed the preliminary results of last weekend's municipal elections for another 61 municipalities. The results disclosed at a press conference in Sarajevo have confirmed a trend indicating an equal battle among the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), and the Party for BH in municipalities with a Muslim majority. The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) convincingly leads in Croat majority municipalities, and the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) in Bosnia's Serb entity. The electoral results disclosed today show the SDP has won in nine, the SDA in 17, the HDZ in 20, and the SDS in 34 municipalities. The SDA/Party for BH coalition has won in seven municipalities, Milorad Dodik's Independent Social Democrats in two, and Bosnian Serb socialists and the Serb People's Alliance in one each. OSCE Mission spokeswoman Tanya Domi pointed out the results referred only to ballots cast in BH. Ballots from abroad are still being counted.
