ZAGREB, April 3 (Hina) - Representatives of Eter 9, a Croatian
committee of independent local television and radio stations, on
Monday held a working meeting with the minister of communications,
acquainting him with the situation in the electronic media.
Eter 9 gathers representatives of TV Moslavina, Zagreb's Radio 101,
Channel RI, Independent Television Zagreb, Sisak's Luna TV, and
Radio Gorski Kotar.
The committee was established on March 20 and has been supported by
the President of the Republic's Office, TV Moslavina director
Zvonimir Kabelka told reporters in Zagreb following talks with
Maritime Affairs, Transportation and Communications Minister
Alojz Tusek.
Tusek was today also acquainted with Eter 9's petition to Deputy
Premier Zeljka Antunovic.
In the petition, the committee demands the replacement of Radio and
Television Council president Marko Sapunar and Croatian
Telecommunications Bureau head Dominik Filipovic, a revision of
concessions granted for radio and television, and an initiative to
change the Law on Telecommunications, in order to expedite the
settlement of complaints on concession-granting decisions.
Speaking of the Radio and Television Council's and
Telecommunications Bureau's past work, Kabelka said, "all this
time, a strategy has been implemented, creating a situation in the
media according to the interests of the (formerly ruling Croatian
Democratic Union) HDZ and personal interests of individuals."
Reporters could not attend today's meeting Eter 9 had with Minister
Tusek, even though Eter 9 invited them. Kabelka said Tusek's
secretary in the morning asked Eter 9 not to invite the press,
explaining this was the minister's wish.
