Bosnian state court sets Paravinja extradition hearing for 11 July

SARAJEVO, July 6 (Hina) - The State Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday scheduled an extradition hearing for 11 July in the case of Dragan Paravinja, suspected of being involved in the disappearance of the Croatian teenage girl Antonija Paravinja a month ago.

Upon his arrest in Bosnia on 26 June, Paravinja said that he had strangled the girl while trying to cover up an attempt of sexual assault. The Croatian police and investigators are still conducting an intensive search for Bilic.

The Bosnian court's spokeswoman, Manuela Hodzic, said today that on 11 July the court would consider whether conditions were met for the handover of Paravinja, 42, to Croatia.

In Bosnia, the local court in the eastern municipality in Sokolac is conducting proceedings against Paravinja on suspicion of an attempted rape in 2000. He is being kept in the Kula penitentiary in East Sarajevo.

The Serbian judiciary sentenced him to four years and six months for rape and attempted rape in 2002. Since 2007, he has been beyond the reach of Serbia's judiciary.
