ZAGREB, March 29 (Hina) - Croatian Telecommunications (HT) ended
the fiscal year 1999 with a 25 per cent increased profit in relation
to the previous year, HT Management Board chairman Ivica Mudrinic
said Wednesday.
Mudrinic informed reporters about the HT's new services. The
company will introduce the Integrated Services Digital Network
(ISDN) system in April and during the spring WAP technology

By the end of the year subscribers should start receiving telephone
bills with an all call listing.
According to Mudrinic, the HT last year paid tax and contributions
of 7.2 billion kuna (US$900 million), out of which 807.5 million
were derived from the privatisation of the company.
This year's government budget, he said, counts on resources from
the HT's further privatisation which should be carried out through
public bids.
Prior to the finalised privatisation, the HT will try to raise the
value of the company by improving old and introducing new services
and the company's reorganisation which is necessary due to the
liberalisation of the Croatian telecommunications market
envisaged for the year 2003, Mudrinic said.
The Croatian Telecommunications are planning to invest more than
two billion kuna (US250 million) and employ more than 300 new
experts along with the 11,000 current employees.
With its new business strategy the HT has in the past three months
increased the number of clients by 50,000. From January until the
end of February the company has gained between 25,000 and 30,000 new
users of Croatia's Internet provider, Hinet, Mudrinic's deputy,
Armin Herbert Schubert, said.
Hinet thus currently has 100,000 users, while its mobile telephony,
Cronet, Simpa and Mobitel, 300,000 clients.
With the introduction of the ISDN system through the fixed network,
the HT will make it possible for users to have several telephone
lines on only one local exchange connection via which video images,
letters and faxes can be sent, and the Internet reached.
