ZAGREB, March 27 (Hina) - Talks on cooperation and investments which American business people of Croat descent on Monday held with Croatian President Stipe Mesic show optimism but also caution of US business people. President Mesic
held talks with a delegation of the Croatia-US Business Council of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, which was headed by the president and a member of the Council's supervisory board, Radovan Pavelic. Our approach is "optimistic and cautious", Pavelic told reporters after meeting Mesic, adding American Croats expected changes in Croatian legislation and wanted to gain insight into cooperation possibilities. "We discussed the change of the political atmosphere which will positively affect our Diaspora, and (we expect) that it will join our economic processes more freely, especially by investing its capital," the President's advisor on economy Stjepan Zdunic said. ZAGREB, March 27 (Hina) - Talks on cooperation and investments
which American business people of Croat descent on Monday held with
Croatian President Stipe Mesic show optimism but also caution of US
business people.
President Mesic held talks with a delegation of the Croatia-US
Business Council of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, which
was headed by the president and a member of the Council's
supervisory board, Radovan Pavelic.
Our approach is "optimistic and cautious", Pavelic told reporters
after meeting Mesic, adding American Croats expected changes in
Croatian legislation and wanted to gain insight into cooperation
possibilities.
"We discussed the change of the political atmosphere which will
positively affect our Diaspora, and (we expect) that it will join
our economic processes more freely, especially by investing its
capital," the President's advisor on economy Stjepan Zdunic said.
Discussed at the meeting were different areas of economy,
especially tourism and processing industry.
The 15-member delegation of the Croatia-US Business Council, which
represents some 80 American Croat business people interested in
medium and small-scale enterprises, today also met high officials
from the Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP), who provided them with
more detailed information on HFP's portfolio.
The two sides agreed that another meeting should be held soon, at
which Council representatives would present their proposals and
intentions regarding some concrete investments into Croatian
companies.
