ZAGREB, March 23 (Hina) - The Croatian National Sabor's House of Representatives discussed amendments to the draft budget for 2000 on Thursday morning. The government did not accept most of some 140 amendments that have been discussed
so far. A number of representatives asked that reconstruction funds be increased, but the government rejected their amendments because, as the Minister of Public Works, Reconstruction and Construction Radimir Cacic, said, apart from the 550 million kuna for reconstruction, another 126 million kuna of debts from 1999 have to be returned as well. Also, a 100-million-kuna contract facilitating the return of refugees was signed with the European Union, and we have been promised another arrangement, worth about 500 million kuna, Cacic said, adding that funds for this year were four times bigger than had been initially suggested.
