ZAGREB, March 15 (Hina) - A Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) representative in parliament's House of Counties, Josip Stepanic, on Wednesday notified Upper House president Katica Ivanisevic he had stepped out of the HDZ and joined "the
independent representative status" in the Upper House. The situation in the HDZ in the last three months is the reason I no longer want to partake in HDZ's work, Stepanic explained in a letter to Ivanisevic. Stepanic is the third HDZ representative in the Upper House to leave the party. Zlatko Vitez and Stjepan Brolich did the same a few days ago, joining the Croatian Democratic Centre, a party being formed by former HDZ members Mate Granic and Vesna Skare-Ozbolt. Before the three mentioned left the party, the HDZ had 41 seat in the Upper House.
