FIRST VOLUME OF MONOGRAPH ON CROATIAN SABOR PRESENTED IN ZAGREB

ZAGREB, Feb 27 (Hina) - The first volume of the monograph 'Hrvatski državni sabor 1848.-2000.' (Croatian National Sabor 1848-2000) by Ivo Peric was presented in Zagreb last Thursday in the presence of the former and incumbent Sabor Presidents Vlatko Pavletic and Zlatko Tomcic, numerous MPs and state officials. The first volume of this publication gives a short survey of parliamentary work until 1848, when the modern Croatian parliament was established. Special attention is paid to that period, and the volume ends with the year 1867. The second volume, to be published in May, covers the period until 1918, whereas the third volume covers the history of the Croatian National Sabor until the present day. The book contains data on parliamentary decisions, MPs, and complaints from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The first volume was published by the Croatian Institute for History, the Sabor and the publishing house "Dom i svijet." "Croatia has a long parliamentary history which dates back to the Middle Ages," said the book's author, adding that his research of the history of parliamentary work started 30 years ago whereas a detailed plan of the monograph was made in 1990.
