ZAGREB, March 10 (Hina) - Croatian President Stipe Mesic on Friday appointed Lieutenant General Petar Stipetic as Croatian Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff. The former chief-of-staff, Vice-admiral Davor Domazet was promoted to the rank of
Admiral, the President's advisor for military issues, Imra Agotic, told reporters after Mesic's meeting with Stipetic and Domazet. During the talks Mesic said a time had come for work on the reorganisation of the armed forces, and this was the time for people with new ideas and stances. "I am assuming the duty of chief-of-staff at a moment which is very important for the further development of the Croatian army," Stipetic said. The Government programme, adopted by both the President and Parliament, envisages extensive changes in the organisation and structure of the armed forces.(hina) lml mm
