BLASKIC'S INDIVIDUAL LIABILITY HASN'T BEEN PROVED - ZUBAK

ORASJE, March 4 (Hina) - "The sentence of the 45-year-imprisonment, which the Hague Tribunal passed on Tihomir Blaskic, is imposed on a man whose individual liability has not been established," the President of the Croatian New Initiative (NHI), Kresimir Zubak, said on Saturday . Zubak said soldiers in the Lasva River Valley had been residents of that area and lived there before the war in Bosnia. Some of them joined defence forces in Croatia when Serbia launched aggression, and subsequently returned to their homes in the Lasva River and defended their homes there, he said in view of the judgement of the ICTY that the conflict in that part of Bosnia-Herzegovina assumed the international character in 1993. Commenting on that claim of the International War Crimes Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), this Bosnian Croat politician stressed that Croatia's Army (HV) had not taken part in war events in Bosnia

The Croatian Army arrived only after Croatia and Bosnia concluded a bilateral agreement on that matter, he recalled. He also insisted that the international community apply Bosnia's legislation in cases of breaches of the laws of war, adding that currently the severest sentence of confinement is 20 years in Bosnian Federation (Croat-Moslem entity).
