ZAGREB, March 3 (Hina) - The Croatian Victimological Association and the Association of the Croatian Homeland War Veterans (HVIDRA) on Friday expressed dissatisfaction with a verdict passed by the International Criminal Tribunal for
the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in the case of General Tihomir Blaskic. The verdict to General Tihomir Blaskic is not based on valid evidence, the Victimological Association reported. The statement also read that the ICTY should not have passed a sentence which was greater that the maximum penalty he would have received for the same crimes if tried before national courts. Members of the HVIDRA also expressed dissatisfaction with the sentence passed by the ICTY, and called on Croatian citizens to stage a protest infornt of the United States Embassy in Croatia on Monday, 16.00 hours. Blaskic, as a local HVO commander, was sentences to 45 years in
prison for crimes committed in Central Bosnia during Croat-Moslem
conflicts in 1993.
