THE HAGUE, March 2 (Hina) - The attorney of Ante Furundzija called on the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia's (ICTY) appeal council to overrule the verdict against his client, claiming that the trial in the
first instance was not in line with justice. Furundzija is the former commander of an unit for special purposes of the Croatian Defence Council, the Jokers. Furundzija's basic rights to just trial were violated in several ways, attorney Luka Misetic said before the ICTY. In his opinion, evidence in the case were insufficient, witnesses were unreliable, and the passes sentence was exaggerated.
